Chevron Corporation is a multinational energy corporation with headquarters in San Ramon, California. Chevron is engaged in every aspect of the oil, gas and geothermal energy industries. This includes exploration and production; refining, marketing and transport; chemicals manufacturing and sales and power generation.
We believe that disclosure of revenues received by governments and payments made by extractive industry companies to governments could lead to improved governance in resource-rich countries. The transparent and accurate accounting of these funds contributes to stable, long-term investment climates, economic growth and the well-being of communities. Our commitment to promoting revenue transparency is reflected in our participation as a stakeholder in the voluntary, multinational, government-led Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), of which Chevron is the longest continually serving member of the international EITI Board.
Engagement with the EITI
Chevron operates or has a working interest in 16 EITI implementing countries. Chevron is confident that the EITI's multi-stakeholder approach, which ensures the full representation of governments, extractive industry companies and civil society, is the best approach for providing transparency in company payments and government revenues in resource-rich countries.
The company has been a member of the multi-stakeholder groups (MSG) in several countries implementing the EITI Standard such as Azerbaijan, Philippines, Republic of Congo and United States during its years of implementation of the EITI Standard.
Chevron is one of the longest continuous serving members of the international EITI Board.
Strengthening transparency
Chevron’s sustainability reporting focuses on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues that are important to its business and stakeholders. Chevron currently discloses data on a number of issues recommended in the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) for oil and gas exploration and production, midstream and refining and marketing standards.
