Emanuel Y.H. Bria

Country Officer – Asia

Emanuel oversees and supports the EITI implementation in several countries in Southeast Asia, Pacific and the Middle East.   

Prior to joining the EITI, Emanuel worked as a consultant for the World Bank to support EITI implementation in Indonesia. He was a researcher with the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI), University of Queensland, Australia where together with other experts he undertook research on strengthening the ASEAN mineral cooperation. He was invited to teach natural resource management at the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Academy, an initiative co-developed by the UNDP, National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and Tanoto Foundation. Emanuel was a visiting lecturer in energy policy at the Paramadina Graduate School of Diplomacy, Indonesia. He has published papers and op-eds on topics related to state-owned enterprise reforms, subnational extractives, anti-corruption and energy policy.    

Emanuel spent seven years working with the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) in Asia where he led regional and Indonesia country programmes. Prior to this, he was based in Cambodia as CAFOD's Southeast Asia governance manager. He also spent two years supporting civil society organisations in Timor-Leste. 

Emanuel holds a master's degree in International Relations and a bachelor's degree in Philosophy. He enjoys travelling and nature.
