The energy transition to clean energy sources will depend on critical energy transition minerals. The Future Minerals Forum (FMF), taking place in Riyadh, explored ways to ensure a reliable, responsibly sourced supply of minerals needed for a low-carbon future.

The FMF is one of the world's largest gatherings of senior government and industry representatives, dedicated to creating resilient and responsible mineral value chains in the super regions of Africa, Western and Central Asia. Last year's forum brought together representatives from 74 governments and 35 international organisations.

The event began with a Ministerial Roundtable on 14 January, under the theme "Toward a grand agreement of minerals", with participation from EITI's Deputy Executive Director Bady Balde in the Roundtable and panel discussions on critical minerals. The roundtable convened representatives from host and customer countries to discuss the untapped potential of critical minerals and explore how they can drive economic and sustainable development.
