Statements and presentations from the Doha Conference 2009
Throughout the EITI Conference, over 40 Government, company and civil society representatives addressed the conference and the EITI Stakeholders Forum.
The opening session was addressed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Qatar, President of Liberia Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Investor George Soros and CEO of Shell Jeroen van der Veer.
On the closing day the EITI Stakeholders Forum was opened with an address by the Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea, H.E. Igancio Milam Tang. Representatives of Albania and Ethiopia announced their intentions to implement the EITI. Japan formally endorsed the EITI and became an EITI supporting country. Several candidate countries, including Gabon, Peru, Mongolia and Kazakhstan reiterated their commitment to EITI implementation.
