Background
Critical minerals play an essential role in developing clean energy technologies. Ensuring secure and sustainable supply chains for these minerals is crucial as demand rises. However, the establishment of new mines, processing facilities and refineries poses environmental and community risks, which, if unaddressed, could disrupt the supply chain and impede the swift adoption of clean energy technologies.
In this Transparency Matters event, we will explore how governments, companies and different international actors can develop sustainable and responsible supply chains that support communities and address corruption risks. The event will also cover the role of data disclosure, transparency and stakeholder dialogue in supporting these efforts, as well as the potential of traceability schemes and technologies to enhance transparency.
