Ines was the EITI’s Policy Director, overseeing the development, revisions and implementation of the EITI Standard and developing guidance material for practitioners. Ines lead the policy team that spearheads the EITI’s work on beneficial ownership disclosure, state-owned enterprises and commodity trading transparency. She has experience with the EITI's work in Anglo- and Lusophone Africa, having led EITI implementation support to Ghana, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Seychelles, São Tomé and Príncipe, Tanzania and Zambia. She supported the Implementation Committee of the EITI Board, which oversees policy and implementation developments and progress in the EITI implementing countries. She was also a member of the Secretariat’s senior management team.
Ines has previously worked for Amnesty International (Norway), the UN Research Institute for Social Development (Geneva), the Permanent Mission of Portugal to the United Nations (New York) and the Business Council for International Understanding (New York).
She holds a MSc in Development Studies from London School of Economics. Ines was born and spent her early life in Tokyo, Japan.
