Japan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) is a cabinet-level ministry of the Japanese government responsible for the country's foreign relations and diplomacy.

In the EITI Global Conference held in Paris in 2019, the Minister of the Embassy of Japan in France made a speech and expressed the country's support to the activities of the EITI.

Statement of support

Engagement with the EITI 

Japan has been an EITI supporting country since 2009. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has provided support to the EITI process and has contributed to the EITI Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) managed by the World Bank.

Since 2017, Japan has been implementing bilateral cooperation through the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and developing technical cooperation with a project in Papua New Guinea.
