Freeport-McMoRan is an international mining company with headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Freeport’s portfolio of assets includes the Grasberg minerals district in Indonesia, one of the world’s largest copper and gold deposits. Mining operations in the Americas include the large-scale Morenci minerals district in North America and the Cerro Verde operation in South America.

We believe that increased transparency of natural resource revenues and payments promotes better governance and accountability regarding the distribution of natural resource revenues. Freeport-McMoRan has endorsed the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) since 2008. The EITI is a global standard to promote transparent and accountable management of natural resources.

Engagement with the EITI

Freeport-McMoRan has mining operations in Indonesia and Peru. Freeport-McMoRan's subsidiary, PT Freeport Indonesia, is a member of the Indonesian multi-stakeholder group (MSG). 

Freeport-McMoRan is a member of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) and provides its financial contribution to the EITI through its ICMM membership. The company has supported other activities such as the 7th EITI Global Conference in Peru, the Conference on beneficial ownership held in Indonesia in 2017 and the 8th Global Conference in Paris in 2019.
