Implementing the EITI - Best Practices and Tools

  • 00:00 – 00:00 CEST
  • 30 November 2007

Since the launch of the EITI, 22 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America have joined the initiative. As the number of EITI stakeholders increases, the need for capacity-building grows. Requests for training are being received from both government and civil society representatives in many implementing countries. At the same time, there is a growing body of experience and best practice, and the moment is right to share it among EITI stakeholders.

Against this background, the EITI Secretariat and InWEnt - Capacity Building International, Germany (on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development and with additional funding by the EITI Multi-Donor Trust Fund administered by the World Bank) are jointly organising a series of three five-day seminars on ‘Implementing the EITI - Best Practice and Tools'.

The seminars will bring together representatives of government, business and civil society from the 22 implementing countries to share experiences and to learn from leading experts and practitioners. Target participants are members from the national EITI committees, or institutions involved in the EITI. The first seminar will take place 9 - 13 June 2008 in Berlin, Germany, and will be conducted in English. Two more seminars will follow in the autumn, one in French and one in English.
