The EITI Board Chair wishes to invite all EITI stakeholders to nominate an individual, country, company or organisation for the EITI Chair’s Awards, which will be announced at the 2023 EITI Global Conference in Dakar, Senegal.
The EITI Chair’s Awards recognise individuals, countries, companies or organisations that have shown leadership, determination and resourcefulness in implementing the EITI.
The deadline for nominations is 27 May 2023. Nominations should be submitted to the EITI International Secretariat at secretariat@eiti.org, with "Nomination for EITI 2023 Chair’s Award " in the subject line.
All stakeholders engaged in the EITI at either the national and international level are eligible for nomination. Anyone may submit a nomination with a brief justification.
We encourage anyone wishing to make a nomination to consider the following:
- An individual, country, company or organisation that has shown leadership and strong commitment to transparency and accountability in the extractive sector;
- An individual, country, company or organisation that has shown innovative approaches to achieve the EITI’s objectives and mandate through multi-stakeholder dialogue;
- An individual, country, company or organisation that has made the most impressive progress in overcoming challenges and capacity constraints.
At the 2019 EITI Global Conference, the EITI Board Chair gave three awards:
- Armenia was recognised as a newcomer that fostered cooperation and introduced a new culture of multi-stakeholder dialogue on natural resource governance through their e-reporting platform.
- Colombia was recognised for its environmental reporting portal and progress made in 2018.
- Zambia was recognised for using EITI data to inform the fiscal regime debate; working to institutionalise the function of the Independent Administrator; and establishing a beneficial ownership register that is linked to the mining cadastre.
