Consultancy Opportunity: Enhancing GHG Emissions Transparency in the Extractive Sector

Introduction

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is seeking a consultant to spearhead a pioneering project aimed at improving the reporting and transparency of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within the extractive industries. This project is critical in navigating the evolving landscape of emissions disclosure, ensuring impactful and meaningful transparency.

Antecedentes

The consultant should be an individual that the EITI International Secretariat considers to be credible, trustworthy and technically competent. The consultant must demonstrate: 

  • Deep expertise in GHG emissions standards and disclosure practices.
  • Strong background in research, guidance development, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent networking skills within the emissions reporting field, capable of liaising across various countries and entities.

Instrucciones de aplicación

A consultant will be selected following a quality and cost-based selection procedure. The consultant should submit:     

  • A TechnicalProposal, following the attached template. The technical proposal should not include any financial information. Technical proposals containing material financial information shall be declared non-responsive.     
  • A FinancialProposal, clearly indicating a lump sum financial proposal, in USD, of all associated costs, including applicable taxes. The daily rate for consultant fees should be clearly indicated. The financial proposal should be sent as a password-protected PDF file. The passwords should not be sent - financial proposals submitted without the password will be considered non-responsive. The passwords will be requested following the assessment of the technical proposals.     

Proposals must be delivered by email to skasimova@eiti.org by 1 March 2024 with the subject line “Consultant for greenhouse gas emissions reporting pilot – proposal attached”

All questions related to the project, its timeline and deliverables should be submitted to skasimova@eiti.org by no later than 19 February 2024. Responses to the questions will be posted on this page by 12.00 CET 21 February.

Acerca del EITI

Al convertirse en miembros del EITI, los países se comprometen a divulgar información a lo largo de la cadena de valor de las industrias extractivas, desde la forma en que se otorgan los derechos sobre actividades extractivas, hasta el modo en que los ingresos llegan a manos de los gobiernos y cómo benefician a la población. A través de la participación en el EITI, más de 50 países han acordado a respetar un conjunto de normas comunes que determinan qué debe divulgarse y cuándo: en otras palabras, el Estándar EITI. En cada uno de los países que se ha unido al EITI hay un grupo multipartícipe, conformado por el gobierno, empresas y la sociedad civil, que colabora con la implementación del Estándar EITI.
