Webinar: EITI in Lebanon - an introduction

  • 14:00 – 15:00 UTC+2
  • 20 February 2017

The EITI International Secretariat, in collaboration with partners including Publish What You Pay Lebanon (PWYP), the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) and the Lebanon Petroleum Administration (LPA), is organising a webinar to present the EITI to Lebanese stakeholders, answer questions about the EITI and look at what implementation of the EITI could mean for Lebanon.

Last month, Lebanon announced that it would join 51 other countries currently implementing the EITI Standard. What would this mean for Lebanon and what steps do countries need to take in order to implement the EITI? Join the webinar to be part of the discussion and get answers to your questions.

Moderators: Pablo Valverde (Country Manager, EITI) and Walid Nasr (Head of the Strategic Planning Department at the Lebanon Petroleum Administration).

The webinar will commence with an introduction of the EITI, guidance on the steps involved in becoming an EITI candidate country and significance of EITI membership. Participants will receive a brief update on recent developments in Lebanon's nascent extractive sector and its potential before the moderators will open for questions from participants.

The webinar will take place in English, but questions in French and Arabic are welcome.

Anyone interested is welcome to join the webinar on Monday, 20 February 2017 at 14.00 CET (15.00 Lebanon Time).
